It's tough for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The top summits have already been conquered.

We're talking about the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to six more T20 titles, and previously enjoyed 1,294 days unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, targeted by the peak baggers, are all that remain for a team that has accomplished all there is.

It needed up to Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase over 300, regaining their record for the highest in the female 50-over format, is, in truth, a testament to the bowling attack that have sported the yellow jersey over the past 50 years.

Many contend the argument supporting championship match pressure. Some might respond with the test that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's clear is this hundred was far harder to see coming.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 happened while she topped the run-scoring charts, but this knock was preceded by six games in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've been watching me in training, it has been a disappointing period because it seemed my form was missing whatsoever," said Healy.

"But once you enter the playing area, your competitive instincts kick in and you simply focus on the competition."

Healy's competitiveness has always been her key asset - and an invaluable trait in taking over from legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, dismissed by the 22-year-old seamer in all three matches, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's inspiration.

A single came off the opening delivery and from there the batsman was underway.

"An opportunity to take the field and engage in competition with her and merely enjoy the moment that way, kind of motivated me," said Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 deliveries - her quickest at the World Cup - and her hundred in 84 balls as she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three maximums.

Once she was out Australia needed 66 additional runs at one run per ball - an achievable target now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Chasing 330 runs is new territory so I am glad we have the assurance to do that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it again but, if necessary, we know we can achieve it."

That comment will be the last rival teams at this tournament should hear.

During the last week a sense they will triumph from any situation has become more firm - this victory succeeding success over Pakistan by 107 runs despite being 76-7 at one stage.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before an encounter with traditional opponents England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final place may well be secure.

During that phase they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a game Healy missed because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she led her country for the inaugural occasion at an important competition.

So strong is her resolve, she later said she wished she had played with the discomfort.

But while she afterwards confessed those physical issues have postponed consideration of ending her career, this tournament is likely to be her last as captain in one-day cricket and she is yet to win a global event as leader.
